Prevention Tips

In order to reduce risks of data loss we have produced a simple list of do's and don'ts:

  • Always re-format your memory card after safely downloading your images, photos etc. on to your P.C/ Mac.
  • Always make sure your rechargable battery(s) are fully charged before attempting to download your images. If your battery(s) fail during this time you may corrupt the stored data or permanently corrupt the card.
  • If you remove your memory card while still being accessed either through your camera or a card reading device it will most certainly cause file corruption. It is essential to wait for the downloading action to be completed before ejecting your card.
  • If you are using a card reader to download your images always right click on the system tray at the bottom of your screen and ejecting the correct drive letter.
  • Make sure you are using the memory card within the temperarures described. Direct sunlight, or exposure to other hot or very cold temperatures may result in damage.
  • Be extra cafeful with Smartmedia and xD picture cards. These cards do not contain a "controller chip". It menas that if you select the "format" or "delete all" function within a digital camera all your photos will be irreversible removed.
  • Be careful in dry humid enviornments. Static can corrupt the data store on your memory card.
